Employee Spotlight: Meet Mike

Where are you from?

I work in the United States division of the Fenestrae and live in Norcross, Georgia.

Tell us about your role at Fenestrae

I started at Fenestrae in December 2007 as a Support Technician, and moved into the Developer role about a year later. My role at Fenestrae is Software Developer. I am responsible for maintaining the existing source code of our communication solutions and implementing new code for feature requests and/or to extend the capabilities of the software. I often need to investigate and solve bugs that have been reported by customers.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Ever since I was a teenager I’ve had a passion for computer programming, so my job is perfect for me. I enjoy the challenge of diving into unfamiliar source code and learning how it works. It feels very rewarding when I can successfully track down and fix a bug so customers can continue using our solutions without any issues.

What are some of your best skills?

My best skill is definitely problem solving! I do not give up easily when faced with a programming challenge. I take pride in writing clear and robust code. These are important skills for developers.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work?

Outside of work, I continue to do a lot of programming, and I have dozens of pet projects that I’ve been tinkering with for years. I also enjoy playing chess, although I’m not as good at chess as I would like to be.
